Description:

Offloading & installation of free issues substation equipment 33kV complete with cable & terminations & insulated busbars to transformers.

Supply & installation of 132kV specked 33kV operation voltage overhead line 9km double circuit monopole self-supporting.

Sasol 33kV ODS & 33kV OHL Project

The new ODS will be supplied from the 132kV substation inside the Sasol primary area via two sets of 132kV underground cables. Two new 132kV/33kV 80MVA Siemens transformers were installed in separate transformer bays on the western side of the ODS. On the inside of the substation, 33kV ABB gas-insulated switchgear was installed.

B&W was responsible for the manufacture, supply, and installation of the earthing systems, cables, and auxiliaries at Sasol Secunda, 33kV outside distribution substation.

The 33kV Overhead Line is a sub-project of the larger Fine Ash Dam 6 (FAD6) project.

The purpose of this sub-project is to distribute electrical power from the new 132/33kV Outside Distribution Station (ODS) to the new Fine Ash Dam 6 (FAD6) site.  The 33kV electrical distribution to the FAD6 site consists of two separate, but integrated, work packages.

B&W’s work included the supply, installation and complete end-to-end fibre commissioning of the 33kV overhead line sections, with the OPGW, fibre loop-in at the substation and terminations at both ends from the ODS to the FAD6 substation.
